Life is the “activity" of creation evolving toward and ultimately into consciousness. This can be seen in all aspects of life, from the activity of subatomic particles, to the physical processes of living, to the evolving consciousness. It is a process of flow that we experience as a duality. It is the process of learning, healing or evolving as one form or reality opens into the activity of creation (chaos) that allows movement into a freer less encumbered form or reality...ultimately allowing creation to experience consciousness. We can experience this process, both physically and consciously as two possible realities depending on our perceptions and interpretations...one of cycles (re-creating form and reality), or one of flow (witnessing the activity of evolving).
Unfortunately, we experience life, more often than not, as a series of cyclic awarenesses rather than a flow of infinite possibilities. The very nature of a cycle is restriction that is experienced as tension through various dualities of body, mind and spirit. Cycles follow the same path or rhythm with little variation, thus cycling in on itself or experiencing its reflection, its interpretations, again and again. Each cycle has a quality, feeling or essence. For example, we have many different relationships with the people in our lives ranging from casual acquaintances to loved ones. The duality (of separation) or cycle (of restriction) is you and the other person...the essence is how it feels to be (interact) with that person. If it is a healthy interaction it feels good. If it is not then it feels stressful.
Chaos is the inherent tendency for all cyclic phenomena to experience moments of freedom from restrictions, which is an opportunity for healing, growth and evolution. Kundalini, chi, the “conscious void"...Nothingness, are all aspect of chaos. Order (active consciousness or attention) is what attracts or re-orders moments of chaos. Consciousness experiences chaos as essence, freedom and flow..."creative consciousness," until chaos and order are experiences as one and the same. Fortunately, all aspects of cycles (duality) and essence (all sensations...physical, emotional and spiritual) are potential doorways for the integration of body and mind into higher states of awareness, function and healing.
Learning, healing or evolving is exceeding any cyclic or recurring experience of pain or limitation of physical or conscious processes. This can be seen in our day-to-day experiences that result in insights and realizations. Bringing our attention to a “particular" issue creates a cyclic awareness (through conscious effort) as we continually think along a particular line of thought in search of a solution or insight. This sets the stage for consciousness to briefly access aspects of “chaos" or knowledge relative to our awareness, but outside our typical experiences. However, everyday consciousness, being what it is, a cyclic awareness, will re-orient to a new cyclic awareness, though be it of greater understanding and function. We can “define" the process as “harmonic resonance" (i.e. if a tuning fork of any pitch is struck, it will cause another tuning fork of a similar pitch to resonate). It is this day-to-day process by which consciousness, through its effort, accesses chaos or the “creative void". This is one “direction" of the “learning" process. Unfortunately, it is the direction most often taken when we have a desire for understanding, change or growth, for the evolution of cyclic consciousness can move very slowly. After all, we have been doing this for thousands of years.
The more we address life from the cyclic experience, the more chaos goes unnoticed. Therefore, instead of looking at life from that vantage point in the hope of accessing chaos, we can simply re-direct our awareness to the “innate" physical and conscious dynamics that allow the lightness of chaos to come into “view". At this point, we exceed the limitations of our cyclic awareness as the “cycle" moves into stillness and the activity of creation moves into consciousness as the effort of self, the effort it takes to be you, is quieted. Where there are fewer tendencies for a cyclic awareness to even exist, as the cyclic reality may seem real to us, but an illusion to the “creative consciousness". The process of harmonic resonance functions in this direction as well. As chaos, lightness or stillness moves into the awareness of any process of body or mind, other physical and conscious processes will respond or “entrain" as well. This is a very direct and conscious avenue to access healing through the “dynamics" of the learning processes of life. Now, instead of “conscious effort" accessing chaos, the “effort" is quieted as awareness “turns-in-on-itself" and chaos (creation) is allowed to access consciousness.
This differs from meditation in its pure sense, as meditation attempts to “slow" consciousness down, so-to-speak, from beta...to alpha...to theta...to delta, to access the “void" (the same process that is seen when we sleep). However, “consciously" witnessing the active processes that are aspects of chaos allows chaos to move into the “awake" state of conscious awareness. So instead of taking consciousness into the dream state, bring the dream into consciousness.
Our lives consist of both physical, biochemical and conscious cycles. Basically, we move (body), we eat (cell), and we think (mind). All that we do to and for ourselves fall under one or more of these categories. On a conscious level, we create (intuition), understand (beliefs) and express (emotions) as we experience each moment (quality of oneness/connection to self and life). This includes, but is not limited to, self-awareness, self-expression, relationships and spiritual understanding. Our beliefs, expectations, apprehensions and perceived limitations of mind and body are nothing more than cycles of conscious and physical effort or tension. Fortunately, there are dynamics within all physical and conscious processes and awarenesses that exceed the biochemistry of disease, the “defense postures" of the body, the “learned behaviors" of the mind, and the “conditioned responses" of the nervous system as the creative consciousness is realized.
Self-Awareness
We can re-direct self-awareness utilizing conscious processes that bring our awareness to qualities of chaos. This can be accomplished by either creating a paradox in which you think you have realized an answer only to find that the answer turns around on you, and turns again and again, or abstract awarenesses that are impossible to completely comprehend, in which case you simply wonder around in the curiosity and mystery of curiosity...the “question". Both scenarios are questions without answers...doorways to the creative consciousness. As we experience the feeling of wonder these processes evoke, we can re-direct our awareness or simply become aware of those same qualities and more in any and all aspects of life through the principles of “harmonic resonance".
Conclusion
Life has a rhythm and flow that we experience, in varying degrees, as cyclic. It is a consciousness that is resistant to totally allowing each experience...each second...to unfold and enfold. It requires effort to resist flow and maintain a cyclic awareness, but it affords a quality that the ego needs and finds comforting...the quality of sameness, predictability and safety. You can see this if looking back at yourself through various phases of your life. You may have changed a couple of habits, changed an attitude or two about yourself or life, but you still experience you as you.
All effort of mind, body and cell is experienced as various degrees of tension that share a harmonic quality...a core feeling...as in the sameness of the note “C" found throughout the different octaves. The effort and tension that is experienced in problem solving, in wanting to love or be loved, in holding back a feeling, in maintaining who we think we are or should be, in physical exertion, in disease or pain, or even in the effort of taking in breath feels the same harmonically or qualitatively. Fortunately, the ease and lightness experienced in the flow of creativity, in being lost in a feeling, in moments that exceed the definitions and expectations of who we think we are, feels harmonically one and the same as well.
It simply requires our awareness or attention to set the stage for accessing greater and greater doorways...this is why a musician is not likely to discover principles in quantum physics, and a physicist is not likely to write music. Realizing the harmonic relationship that all aspects of chaos share, and that which all aspects of cycles or effort share, allow us to access chaos, the creative consciousness, with virtually any physical or conscious experience. This creates an awareness of flow within all phenomena, from ease to tension, or tension to ease. This allows body and mind greater and more efficient access to the dynamics of awareness and evolving that is often hidden by our reflection, which is the reflection of a “cyclic" awareness. When it comes down to it...understanding and knowledge serve two basic purposes...to allow us to see our separation from the experience, and to trust the freedom and infiniteness of the activity of creation...where separation does not exist. At that point, the rules of the game truly change as we become increasingly aware of our reflection, until all effort is released as we “realize" our illusion and “witness" the unfathomable Mystery of living.
